When you have come to explore Colorado you need to know what to do when you get there. You can spend days exploring Colorado and not even scratch the surface of what it has to offer. This article is going to help you figure out what to do when you are visiting the Front Range and Mountains. I’m also going to tell you how to get there!

Colorado

Days in Colorado – The Front Range & Mountains spent a week visiting Colorado for the second time during the summer of 2021 and had an incredible super fun full weekend visiting three beautiful cities, Rocky Mountain National Park and Centennial Colorado Springs. We wanted to document the experiences we had so we went from city to city in the Colorado Springs area, eating at some awesome restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. It was such a beautiful place, we were scared to go home! Here are our insights on what to do when you’re visiting Colorado Springs, Denver, and the Front Range.

Go to your local Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf store in the mornings. Have a sit down lunch filled with delicious snacks while drinking herbal tea and coffee. After lunch, head over to Old Town Denver and grab some food at one of the many wonderful outdoor cafes while enjoying the beautiful scenery that Colorado has to offer. After dinner, head back to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for some more sweet treats while you continue to enjoy the beautiful Colorado scenery. For dessert, stop into The Blue Rooster for their giant snow cone and some warm chocolate.

Go hiking and biking while staying in one of the top Colorado towns. We chose a little mountain town called Glenwood Springs as our destination. Thousands of years old mining operations still remain and they produce lots of natural hot springs, which are supposed to be very potent due to the fact that the people of Colorado have been drinking them for centuries. You can stay at the Mountain Pass Motel or the Chateau Frontenac, both of which offer beautiful accommodations while you take in the amazing sights. In addition to being a wonderful way to relax and get rid of that stress, you can also get some exercise while you are there.

If you like to go hiking, try The Great Big House. It is very near the Big Bear Mountain Resort and it has all the makings of an excellent vacation getaway. Some of the best things to do there include getting your own hiking boots and learning how to build a campfire. There are plenty of other things to do in and around this area, so if you are mainly interested in hiking and camping, you will want to visit these places. Other good places to visit include the Continental Divide Trail, the Continental Trail, and of course the Great Northern Trail.

Want to get breakfast at some of the most amazing restaurants in Colorado? Well, then you should definitely spend some time in Denver. This city offers some fabulous attractions, such as the Denver Museum of Fine Arts, the Denver Zoo, and of course the Denver Art Museum. All of these things are sure to make any sightseeing trip to Colorado something that is truly memorable.

While you are in Denver, you should certainly stop into the Pikes Peak Country Club, where you can enjoy an afternoon of golf and dinner. While you are there, you should also take a moment to see some of the beautiful nature that is around the area. Pikes Peak Country Club is in Canon City, about thirty minutes from Denver on the southwest side of the state. Another great place to visit is the south west side of Pikes Peak, which is known for its spectacular mountains and the annual Rocky Mountain Film Festival. You may also want to check out the historic Old Town of Pikes Peak, which offers some great food and shopping.

One thing that is certain about eating in Colorado is that there is plenty to do. No matter what part of the state you visit, you are sure to find a great meal or a perfect place to grab a quick snack. Of course, the best part of all is when you return from a long day of exploring all the wonderful sites that Colorado has to offer. Enjoy Honolulu Like a Local

After going to the wonderful island of Oahu multiple times as a tourist and a local I learned many things.

View of Honolulu From Diamond Head

On my first trip of course we stayed in Waikiki where all the hustle and bustle is. I was fortunate enough to stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort someplace I could of never afforded if I went solo. It is also the hotel seen in the show Hawaii 5-0. Not the old one but the newest one with Grace Park as Kono Kalakaua. Seeing Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park leave the show was very sad. Hawaii is one of the few places where Asian is the majority so to not have them on the show is well stupid.

So the resort is amazing with so many vendors, pools, restaurants, and one of the smallest DQ restaurants I have ever seen. I went exploring and ended up at the Waikiki Aquarium. After I walked the beachfront back to the resort.

Later that night at International Market Place there is a free singing and dance performance show. Walking back to resort at night down Kalakaua Ave was enjoyable to people watch. The food is amazing I cannot say that enough.

Save money visiting Oahu

I wish I had known these tips before I went. For example there are many ABC stores in the area. I didn’t realize many of the prices were different depending on how far away from the resort you were. You can also eat at the open air mall of Ala Moana which has 3 food courts. The Shirokiya Japanese Village Walk made it hard to choose where to eat. This was a great place for those who couldn’t agree on eating one thing.

A new experience for me was Gen Korean BBQ. I had never had to cook my food before let alone have a few hours to eat all I wanted to.

Other ways I saved was to shop at CVS (Long’s Drug Stores), they have a larger variety of foods than back home. Walmart, Costco, were also go to stops. Bottled Water here I noticed was very inexpensive.

Vacation But Live Like a Local

On my 2nd, 3rd, and forth trips back I stayed with friends or Air BnB and stayed longer term so I ended up doing regular shopping and eating with friends. After discovering I really like shaved ice with ice cream inside I craved it often, my first taste was at Baldwin’s Sweet Shop. Now in the tourist books they may say go to Matsumoto Save Ice in Haleiwa. While it maybe wonderful apparently their advertising is spot on because there is always a huge line. The group with me just walked a little farther to Aoki’s Shave Ice and no line! When we were done eating we still saw some of the same people still waiting in line.

I also took the opportunity to try Jack In the Box which is not healthy at all but very tasty. Staying in Hawaii Kai area this reminded me of the nice suburbs back home. They took me to Teddy’s Bigger Burgers and these were some of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time.

We also were able to go to Sherwood Beach which is pretty empty compared to Waikiki. I always thought the water was clear in Waikiki and my friends said it was not at all. I only had the great lakes to compare it to. After going to Sherwood I see the difference now because there’s no film of sunscreen on the surface of the water.

One of our Air BnB’s was in Whilhelmina Rise. We were curious and walked down Palolo Ave and that was such a steep hill at the bottom the tops of my feet hurt. I couldn’t image dropping a ball by accident in this area or even attempting to run after it. If it snowed here this would be the ultimate hill to sled down. The area is definitely one where you must pay attention driving due to the narrow winding streets with cars parked so only one vehicle can go through.
